Montessori Programs

Students in preschool through grade six use the incredible Montessori materials in their learning. In a warm and caring environment WHS encourages a high quality of work, thought, mastery of content and skill. Students are able to progress at their optimal pace. WHS is dedicated to teaching children the learning skills necessary for success in life including a love of work, the ability to concentrate and self-discipline.

Upper Elementary Curriculum and Program

Upper elementary education includes the fourth through sixth grades. Students begin to use comprehensive textbooks in math and civics. The focus in these grades continues to be math, language arts: reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary and spelling. Science, geography and history become more intensive as well. As they move up in the upper elementary grades the transition to college preparatory becomes more evident. Students begin to take history tests in 5th and 6th grades. Students are expected to write original stories on the computer and continue with keyboarding until they are proficient. Physical education class is daily. Spanish language instruction continues. Art and music class is weekly.
