Wider Horizons School

Class Field Trips

Field trips at Wider Horizons are always educational. Young students visit local supermarkets and learn what goes on behind the scenes. Chinsegut Nature Center is a favorite place for students to visit and work with the resident biologists. They learn all about the flora and fauna of Florida in the various seasons of the year. Historical sites are another favorite field trip such as the Sugarmill Woods Print Museum, the Pioneer Museum and the Crystal River Indian mound. We watch for anthropological digs in our area or other special events that may take place. A trip to the USDA diary farm is a good learning experience as is a trip to the Museum of Science and Industry. Visiting local businesses such as a veterinarian office, pizza place or bakery are also interesting trips. Community service field trips where preschoolers deliver Valentines to local nursing homes or junior high students sing Christmas carols at Hospice are annual events.
