Community Involvment

  • Collecting for Victims of Hurricane Katrina: Food and supplies have been collected for our neighbors on the gulf coast.
  • Food Drives: Students collect money, food and supplies for victims of hurricanes and other disasters. Knowing it could always be us in the crosshairs, we understand the need to help our world neighbors.
  • UNICEF: For 23 years WHS students have collected money during Halloween to send to UNICEF to help less fortunate children of the world.
  • Recycle Print Cartridges: Students and their families contribute used printer cartridges for recycling.
  • Adopt a Family at Christmas: Each classroom has its own family recommended to us by a local charity that is lacking the basic necessities. Although we do not know the name of the family we know the ages and sizes of the family members. WHS families are very generous in our Christmas giving.
  • Visiting Nursing Homes: Preschool children deliver Valentines made by WHS children in the afternoon program and sing songs to residents in a local nursing home. Junior and senior high students sing Christmas carols for the elderly.
  • Responding to Crisis: Upper level students have helped out with clearing debris from homes and yards of local flood victims. Students have collected books for schools in the Philippines. Students and their families have brought truckloads of supplies for hurricane victims in Honduras.
