Wider Horizons School

Wider Horizons School and Pasco-Hernando Community College Dual Enrollment Policy

High academic students who have completed their sophomore year at Wider Horizons School and receive a recommendation from their teachers and authorization from administration at Wider Horizons School can begin classes at P-HCC.

Students need to take the required placement test at P-HCC before they can register for classes. Students should then make an appointment with a college counselor to discuss what courses they need to complete both their last two years of high school and complete an Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree.

Exceptional students can take their junior and/or senior high school years at Pasco-Hernando Community College in the Dual Enrollment Program. High academic students can take one or two classes in the afternoon and evening and continue to come to school at WHS to complete their high school courses.

WHS students must receive no less than a B in their college courses to continue taking classes.

  • * Students taking all their courses at P-HCC still need to fulfill the required high school courses for graduation in Florida. Advanced math must be completed before a student can attend P-HCC full time.
  • * High school English III and IV can be replaced at P-HCC with English Composition I and II and Humanities I and II.
  • * Chemistry or another third science course can be taken at P-HCC to complete the science requirement.
  • * Required history courses that have not yet been taken in high school need to be taken at the community college.
