Field Trips

Field trips at Wider Horizons are always educational and generally local. Young students visit local supermarkets and learn what goes on behind the scenes.

Chinsegut Nature Center is a favorite place for students to visit and work with the resident biologists. They learn all about the flora and fauna of Florida in the various seasons of the year as well as how to use a compass and GPS to find their way in the woods.

Historical sites are another favorite field trip such as the Sugarmill Woods Print Museum, the Pioneer Museum, and the Crystal River Indian mound. We watch for anthropological digs in our area or other special events that may take place. Every year each class takes field trips to learn about something outside of the classroom. Overnight trip to Lakewood Retreat for junior and senior high students: outdoor games, team building, zip line, and other outdoor activities for a few days away from
electronics.
